Being a college student typically entails juggling multiple things at once. They have demanding class schedules, homework, extracurriculars, and many have part time jobs to help pay for everything. Of course, with all this going on many students are exhausted, both mentally and physically. They spend countless nights studying or hanging with friends, and wake up in the morning for class. The pressure to do well academically, especially for those with scholarships, can be a lot, and there will be days where they would just want to sleep. It is not uncommon for college students to be running low on sleep and needing a little energy booster to keep them going throughout the busier days of the week.
Cafes near or on school grounds can serve as that much needed lifeline. A nice, cold latte or hot tea can be the perfect remedy to a sluggish day, and the possibility of a quick bite to eat makes it the perfect stopping place for any student. Cafes provide convenient options to help students stay alert, but they also offer a place to relax. For many students, it can act as an oasis in a desert of work. It could be studying with friends, meeting up before class, or stopping by as a reward after a particularly difficult class, but regardless cafes offer busy college kids a much needed respite.
Although cafes give students a mental or emotional break, they are beneficial in a number of different ways as well. Many students don't plan out when to eat or drink, and often wake up at the latest possible time before class. In doing so, they struggle with energy levels until they finally eat something. Cafes give students quick, accessible meals so they do not need to starve or go out of their way to feed themselves. Similarly, cafes can be nutritious, or at least more nutritious than fast food options. By offering a range of healthy and convenient alternatives, visiting students can be fully prepared to take on their class workload and not feel like garbage after a meal.
